The building at 213 South Main, Erie, Kansas was in the original block #1 and block #2 when the town was platted in 1869. In the original building, Judge James Nelson Roseberry along with his brother in law, CH Frogue, opened a real estate company. There was a fire in 1898 and all the block was burned down. Rebuilding the block was completed in 1904 and CC Dutton opened the First Bank of Erie, which later became Mid America Savings and Loan. This building has housed several real estate companies, saving and loan, a cafe, a video store, and more. This building would make a wonderful renovation project piece, It has the original metal ceilings and above the south window there are the original transoms with original glass still in it. The building also houses the original safe. The safe measures 6ft by 7 ft. There has been some demo started with the drop ceilings removed and one wall on the north has the sheet rock removed.
