Also known and used as a stagecoach drivers coat! Also known to be sold out of the Keller Clothing Co. to the wealthy oil men from Watch Horn Oil fields! This little hamlet was located 5 miles East of town today. This area was known for saloons, hotels, dancing girls and boisterous piano men! These coats would sell to anyone who could afford the $500 price tag in 1915! You will see this style and quality made today selling for Much, much more! This was one of two coats left at the Keller Clothing Co. since his grandfather had brought them in! Then in the 1970s when Bob and his brother each picked out one of the coats left on hangers behind the modern suit jackets (boring even then). Bob chose the Lucious looking horse hair one and his brother chose the bear skin jacket. They had been hanging there for years ( since the 1915s to current) To give you an idea of size, our model is a slight, 5’7” man that is Lg at best, more like a 16” shirt and a 38-40 jacket size……This coat was feeling large on him! So, Let’s call this a Size XL with long sleeves, and hangs to mid calf! A very heavy coat weighing in at 12 -15 pounds! Reinforced armpits (leather) and a heavy quilting stitch pattern lining make this warm (for the day). Goose down came along much later. BUT….it had the largest collar known to man! Look at the height of it! It definitely protected men from the Kansas winds!! This is able to be shipped!!
